How to Apply (incoming exchange students)
Check that your University has an Erasmus / international exchange agreement with Loughborough University and the subject you are studying is covered by an agreement. It is very important that you only apply to Loughborough University if your subject is covered by an agreement. To view which departments at Loughborough University have links with your home university click here. Contact your home Erasmus (or Study Abroad) Coordinator who will be able to offer you advice on which university to study at and agree a course of study with them.
If your University does not have an agreement with Loughborough please contact your home Erasmus (or Study Abroad) Coordinator. The University is unable to deal with requests from students to set up new agreements.
The Exchange Student Guide can be found below. This guide provides detailed information about how to apply for an exchange to Loughborough University.
Module choice
Exchange students should normally choose modules from the department with which their home institution has a bilateral agreement. Please make sure you seek guidance on available modules from your prospective department. For clarification of the modules available to you, please contact the relevant Departmental Exchange Coordinator at Loughborough University.
Registration on 'open access' modules for other departments may exceptionally be permitted, subject to the agreement of the relevant departmental exchange co-ordinator and the department providing the module involved. Module information can be accessed via http://cisinfo.lboro.ac.uk/epublic/wp5015.main

Pre-sessional English Language
The Student Support Centre at Loughborough University runs a number of pre-sessional courses before the start of each academic year. You may find it useful to attend one of these courses before starting your formal programme.
European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and Transcript of Records
Please note that this section is relevant to European (Erasmus) students.
ECTS credits are a value allocated to course units to describe the student workload required to complete them. They reflect the quantity of work each course requires in relation to the total quantity of work required to complete a full year of academic study:
- 60 credits represent one year of study
- 30 credits are normally given for six months (one semester)
- Loughborough University's modular scheme divides an academic year's work for an undergraduate student into 120 credit units. Loughborough University has adopted ECTS principles for all its exchange activities. Requests for further information should be sent to the appropriate Departmental Exchange Coordinator.
Transcript of Records:
Students are asked to include a transcript of records as part of their initial application to Loughborough University. At the end of the exchange study period at Loughborough University, a transcript is available to students from their department of study before, or soon after, they return to their home university. The transcript includes an explanation of how credits and grades can be transferred.
