The School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering provides a range of postgraduate MSc degrees that address the three key challenges of energy, communications and systems.
All our MSc programmes offer advanced-level training and education geared to the needs of global industry, commerce and government and draw upon the world-class research being undertaken in the School and across the University.
Our students reflect the dynamic nature of the industry and come from all corners of the world to study at Loughborough. Each year, over 100 students from the UK and abroad join us to take advantage of our best-in-class postgraduate MSc training.

Accreditation
The Professional Institutes support the training of professional engineers by accrediting or approving programmes that meet their criteria. All our Masters programmes are accredited and successful completion contributes towards your Chartered Engineer application.
Accreditation involves a thorough assessment of a course’s contents, its assessment procedures, its teaching staff and facilities by a panel of experts. The panel also conducts separate meetings with both lecturers and students as part of the assessment.

Accredited programmes will have met the academic requirements of the Engineering Council (UK) for registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Engineering Technician (EngTech). Approved programmes are educational qualifications that have been determined to meet the academic requirements of the Institute for registration as professional member.
Structure
Our MSc programmes offer a variety of study routes depending on your specific requirements.
Programmes within our energy, systems and communications themes may be studied full-time over one year or part time over a period up to eight years.
All programmes have a modular structure worth 15 credits (taught modules) or 60 credits (project module). Modules are accumulated towards the Loughborough University Masters (180 credits), whilst optional awards of PG Dip (120 credits) or PG Cert (60 credits) are also available for some programmes.
Flexible Learning
We are currently developing distance and flexible learning options for study at home or in your workplace. These programmes enable you to participate without taking time away from work to attend a residential course, and save on the costs of travelling to and living at the University. For maximum flexibility, it is also possible to combine your home or work-based learning with one or more of our residential modules at Loughborough. Currently our Renewable Energy programme is available entirely online via distance learning, whilst Digital Communications will be offered via DL shortly.

Sponsorship, funding and fees
Up to date information on the fees for each of our MSc programmes can be obtained from the Tuition Fee Finder.
To support themselves whilst at Loughborough, many of our MSc students obtain funding from government or industry sources within their own country of residence.
In the first instance we recommend that you contact your local government education office. The University's online postgraduate prospectus also contains information on other sources of external funding.

The MSc in Renewable Energy Systems Technology is supported by The Panasonic Trust and full time students on this programme are eligible to apply for a Fellowship worth £8,000. More information on Panasonic Trust Fellowships and how to apply can be found on the Trust website.
Entry Requirements
Good honours degree in electronic/electrical engineering, physics or an equivalent qualification or equivalent industrial experience.
