Fostering enterprise
Loughborough has an exceptional track record of fostering enterprise and innovation, commercialising University research through licensing and the formation of companies. We offer businesses of all sizes a wealth of professional and technical expertise and specialist services to improve competitiveness.
Over the years we have established strategic partnerships with global industry leaders, which enables Loughborough University research to have a real impact on the world around us.
Commercial potential is at the heart of much of Loughborough University’s activity. It is one of the most prolific universities in the UK for spin out company formation and the campus is home to one of the region’s largest and most sought-after business incubators, Loughborough Innovation Centre, along with an expanding Science and Enterprise Park. These enable small and large companies to form lasting links with the University.
Over the years the University has established an international reputation for the breadth of its partnerships with business, industry and commerce, which are the envy of other institutions. It has long-standing collaborative links with many blue-chip companies, including Ford, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, JCB, EON and Lotus.
The £10m Henry Ford College for retail and management training of motor industry employees throughout Europe, the Systems Engineering Innovation Centre (SEIC) – a partnership venture between the University and BAE Systems – is based at the Loughborough campus.
